The Powell River Studio Tour is an annual self-guided tour of artists and artisans on the Upper Sunshine Coast of British Columbia that is free to the public. 2009 marks the 5th year of the Tour and showcases 26 individual artists and artisans plus another 22 represented at the gallery and more at Powell River Fine Arts Association.
There are 25 locations on the 2009 Tour from Lund to Lang Bay with each studio providing an example of the diversity and excellence of the art community in the Powell River region. An added bonus is the spectacular natural beauty that can be enjoyed along the way.
Look for the free 2009 brochure and map in local stores in June and/or the artist lists on this website.
The first studio tour, organized by Alfred Muma, a well-known local artist, was held in August, 2004. There were 28 locations with over 40 artists and an estimated 244 visitors.
Each year the Tour is organized by a few volunteers who put in their time and effort to promote the region as an art community as well as the individual participating artists and artisans. This year particular thanks is extended to Alfred Muma, Richard Benson, Vi Isaac and Brenda Neall who have taken on the major responsibilities.
