Free to the public, the Powell River Studio Tour is an annual, self-guided tour of artists and artisans from Saltery Bay to Lund on the Upper Sunshine Coast in BC.
After a two-year hiatus, 2015 marks the 9th year of the Tour that showcases individual artists and galleries in 20+ locations. Visitors will see the diversity and excellence of the art community in the Powell River region and, as an added bonus, the spectacular natural beauty that can be enjoyed along the way.
A free colour brochure and map will be available in late July at local stores or it can be downloaded from here as a PDF file in June.
The first studio tour was organized by Alfred Muma, a well-known local artist, in 2004. There were 28 locations with over 40 artists and an estimated 244 visitors.
Each year the Tour is organized by a few volunteers who put in their time and effort to promote the region as an art community as well as the individual participating artists and artisans. The committee members are Alfred Muma, Richard Benson, Vi Isaac, Brenda Nealle, Joyce Furness, and Lowell Morris with Nicole Narbonne taking responsibility for the brochure and Norah LeClare taking responsibility for the website and Facebook .
