Laura Kew began working in stained glass in 1987 as a hobby. Her love of the medium grew and grew, and she now operates her own working glass studio, specializing in custom design for the discerning client. Working in glass over the years has offered opportunities to develop techniques and learn new tricks, including computer design, glass fusing and dichroic glass jewellery.
The guiding support and love of many friends, family members and her children, Tara and Braden, have assisted her in personal growth; both emotionally and as an artist. She believes that we always have more to learn, and that the more we are able to share our knowledge with others, the richer our experiences in this life will be. Her own quest for new ideas, techniques and inspiration will continue, and she continues to be inspired by other artists. Living in beautiful Powell River, B.C. has awakened a renewed creativity, inspired by the beauty of nature and the power of the ocean, many of Laura's creations reflect this.
The beauty of light reflected though glass allows a dimension of individuality in any piece. The changing nature of the light plays upon the glass and serves to transform the very hues of the piece from one moment to the next. Colour creates a relaxed state, encompassing the comfort and beauty of nature reflected within.
Laura operates her home studio; Pacific Reflections Glassworks Stained Glass and Fusing Studio, and now offers custom stained glass design and construction. Laura specializes in original designs to complement every taste and design. Contact Laura via www.pacificreflections.ca
