Artists’ Statement

Powell River, BC. Artist Mischa Brooks-Thoma (Kissing Fish Studio & Powell River Natural Soap Lady) and Jillian McPhail (Funktifyd Creations) Co-operate Creative Rift Studio & Gallery.

Mischa Brooks-Thoma is a photographer and painter known for her stunning images of Powell River scenery, animal and nature shots. She has been a busy little bee, now making soap and other bath products, all natural using a collection of local ingredients. Powell River's Newest Natural Soap Lady. www.kissingfishstudio.ca

A chance pottery class 5 years ago slingshotted Jillian McPhail into the art world at a rapid pace. Since then she has taken it on herself to explore a multitude of mediums.Through all of this she has maintained her own funky style. Some of her current mediums are stain glass, fused glass, polymer clay, jewellery design and pottery.

Creative Rift Studio & Gallery not only features the above 2 artists but also over 10 other local creators. You will find Items such as honey, candles, raku pottery, various kinds jewellery, woodwork, home decor, soap and wearable art.
